This Privacy Policy explains how GetListed.uk (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit the Site, submit or claim a business listing, or otherwise interact with us. We process personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. GetListed.uk is the controller of the personal data described here, and you can contact us at admin@getlisted.uk.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:

  • Business listing information: business name, category, address, phone number, email, website, and social media links, whether submitted by a business owner or compiled by us from the business’s own public channels. For sole traders, this can include personal data.
  • Account information: name and email address, if you register an account to submit, claim, or manage a listing.
  • Contact form and enquiry data: your name, email, and message content when you contact a listed business or contact us directly.
  • Review data: your name and review content, if you choose to leave a review.
  • Payment data: if you buy a paid plan, payment is handled by our payment providers; we do not store full card details.
  • Usage data: technical information such as browser type, pages visited, and approximate location, collected automatically when you browse the Site.

2. How we use this information

We use personal data to: operate and display the directory; let business owners claim and manage their own listings; respond to enquiries sent through the Site; process payments for paid listing plans; keep the Site secure; and improve the Site’s content and functionality.

3. Our lawful bases

We process personal data where it is necessary to provide the service you have asked for (contract), where you have given consent (for example, non-essential cookies), and where we have a legitimate interest in running an accurate and useful directory, balanced against your rights and freedoms. We also process some data to comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal data. Business listing information (name, contact details, services) is published publicly on the Site by design, since that is the purpose of a directory. We share data with service providers who help us run the Site, such as hosting, email, analytics and payment providers, solely for that purpose. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law.

5. Cookies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep the Site working, for example by keeping you logged in. Where required, we ask for your consent before using analytics or other non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice or control cookies through your browser settings at any time. 6. Data retention

We keep listing and account information for as long as the listing or account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of disputes or legal requirements. Financial records are kept for the period required by law. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to section 7.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed about how we use your data, to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email admin@getlisted.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Business listings compiled without prior request

Where we have added a business listing using information already published on that business’s own website or public contact channels, the business owner or individual concerned can ask us to correct, update, remove, or transfer the listing to their control (through the Claim Listing process) at any time, at no cost.

9. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for business use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision.
